Ziying is presently developing her practice in harnessing theatre as a tool for individual and social change. In addition to her work with youth-at-risk at Boys’ Town, Ziying continues to create theatre and craft Applied Theatre projects. She has written for productions that were showcased at the Southeast Asian Arts Festival (2014) and the Women and War Festival (2017). Her previous Applied Theatre experiences include working with Her Majesty’s Prison Thameside, Institute of Mental Health (Singapore) and Salvation Army Peacehaven Nursing Home. Ziying had her first sip of theatre while studying Drama as an ‘O’ Level subject, and has been hooked ever since. Enraptured by how theatre can move, impact and transform, she pursued her Diploma in Applied Drama and Psychology, graduating with a 4.0/4.0 GPA, and was awarded Singapore Polytechnic’s Top 7 Gold Medallists award. Subsequently, Ziying completed her Bachelor in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education (First Class Honours) at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. As she cannot imagine a life of beauty without theatre, Ziying will likely always find herself working on a little project or two. Ziying Teng (Zing)
